Okeechobee County Road Watch Report for week Oct. 11-17

OKEECHOBEE COUNTY — The following column is the Road Watch report for Okeechobee County for the week beginning Sunday, Oct. 11, provided by the Florida Department of Transportation.

U.S. 98 at 19712 Highway 98 North in Okeechobee County: (Permit project) Crews will construct side-drain and driveway-apron improvements at 19712 Highway 98 North.

  • Work is scheduled to begin Wednesday, October 7, 2026, and continue through Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
  • Work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Crews will remove the existing driveway entrance and reconstruct the driveway from the right-of-way to U.S. 98.

Motorists should use caution, watch for workers and equipment, and expect possible delays while traveling through the work area.

S.R. 70 Eastbound from Southwest 87th Terrace to Southwest 85th Avenue: (Utility maintenance project) Crews will replace damaged FPL utility poles along eastbound S.R. 70.

  • Daytime lane closures will occur from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. while the work is underway.
  • Work is scheduled from Monday, September 28, through Friday, October 2, 2026, and continues through October 30, 2026.
  • Motorists should expect possible delays, use caution, and watch for workers and equipment in the work zone.
