LABELLE — At the regular meeting of the Board of Hendry County Commissioners on Tuesday, Oct. 27, a request was submitted to amend the Future Land Use Map from low density residential, to high density residential to allow for a mobile home and RV park on Old State Road 78.
The property, which largely remains undisturbed, consists of approximately 39 acres. The applicant has proposed adding the subject property to the existing LaBelle Yacht Club PUD (Planned Unit Development) and rezoning it to permit the development of a mobile home and RV park.
The new mobile home and RV park would be a 55+ community and each lot would be required to have at least a doublewide unit placed on it. Other additions to the park could include a clubhouse with a bar; a pool with fire pits nearby; shuffle and pickleball courts; a dog park; and laundry services.
The board voted and the request was approved, but it is to be noted this is just one step in a long process.
