City Council holds moment of silence for Jeff Treece, former employee

OKEECHOBEE — During the Oct. 6 meeting of the Okeechobee City Council, Mayor Dowling Watford spoke of a former employee, Jeff Treece Sr., who recently passed away.

“We always say that we are a city family, and one of our former employees, Jeff Treece, passed away recently and he worked for our Public Works Department. He was a city employee for about 14 years. He just retired in July of 2025 and recently passed away, and we would like to remember him. So, if you would join me in a moment of silence in memory of Jeff, please. Our Father, as we come together this evening, we pause to remember our former employee, Jeff Treece. We pray that you would just be with his friends and family and his city family and those that knew Jeff and knew of his dedication to this city and his work for this city and the citizens of this city.”
