Many have reported receiving a survey in the mail within the last few weeks. This survey, called the PATH Study, was sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Food and Drug Administration to study tobacco use and health. The study includes those age 13 and older.
According to their website, “The study informs us about why and how people are using or not using different types of tobacco and nicotine products and how use may affect health. Because we want to know why people do not use tobacco and nicotine products, including people who don’t use these products is critical. The PATH Study has interviewed about 49,000 people, making it one of the most important tobacco and health studies ever done in the United States.”
The website also claims the information you supply will be used for research only, and your answers are not connected to your name.
The PATH study has been around since 2013 and the surveys are distributed around the country. The deadline to complete the study is March 16.
In appreciation for your cooperation, PATH gives some financial incentives:
You can receive additional thank you gifts for participating in future interviews and other study activities.
