CLEWISTON — After a great showing in districts, six Clewiston High School wrestlers are advancing to regionals, with two Tigers earning a district championship.
William Bussott and Adonis Martinez both earned district championship honors at the tournament, Thomas Rudd came in second place in his weight class, Arturo Garcia finished in third, while Michael Bussott and Ricardo Gonzalez both placed fourth in their weight class.
This year the Tigers defeated LaBelle High School in the Hendry County Duals, with Clewiston winning 57-23. They also went 3-0 in the Blue Streaks Invitational in Sebring.
William Bussott has earned first place for the Tigers at the Ray Worsham Invitational and the Titan Tussle in recent months. Last year William was awarded CHS Male Athlete of the Year during the annual CHS Athletic Banquet.
Bussott punched his ticket to the Florida High School Athletic Association state tournament last year by finishing third in his weight class. He was the second wrestler Clewiston has advanced to the state tournament in back-to-back years.
