OKEECHOBEE — On Wednesday, April 8, Kelly Cortez, the School Resource Officer at Okeechobee Christian Academy was mingling with students during their lunch time when she noticed a student choking on some food.
Kelly got up quickly and swiftly helped to remove the food that was causing Brodee to choke. Her quick response and ability to remain calm during the emergency made all the difference.
The SRO Program allows Officer Kelley to build relationships with our students every single day and today showed just how much that presence matters.
