Plan ahead for hurricane season

OKEECHOBEE -- At their May 14 meeting, Okeechobee County Commissioners designated the week of May 3-9, 2026 as National Hurricane Preparedness Week in Okeechobee County.  National Hurricane Preparedness Week serves as an important reminder for residents, .businesses, and government agencies to take proactive steps to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season.   This year’s 2026 theme, “Prepare Ahead of the Storm,” emphasizes the importance of early planning, building emergency supply kits, securing homes and properties, and staying informed .through trusted weather and emergency management sources.
