BELLE GLADE – After 25 years of service to the Palm Beach County Library System, Patricia "Trish" Rawls is retiring, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and exceptional leadership at the Belle Glade Branch. Her final day will be October 29, but the celebration begins this Thursday the 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at the Belle Glade Branch, where friends, coworkers, and community members came together to honor her remarkable career and wish her well in retirement.
Trish’s colleagues, past and present, have all shared stories of her positive influence on the Belle Glade community. From those who have worked alongside her to the members whose lives she has touched, one thing is clear: Trish has made an indelible impact.
"Working with Trish was the best part of Monday nights. We had each other’s back in the building and again on the road heading home,” says Shelsea Estiverne, who worked closely with Trish. Elizabeth Braunworth shared that “Trish always had a warm smile, an infectious laugh, and a friendly demeanor. She was always willing to help and go above and beyond for her community. Your absence will be felt, but your influence will always be remembered!”
For Erica Willis, Trish wasn’t just a supervisor, she was a mentor and a source of strength. She stated “The last 20 years have been filled with knowledge, positive experiences, and wonderful teamwork. You weren’t just my supervisor you were my therapist during tough times and my motivator whenever setbacks arose in my career. I will forever cherish our working relationship and the impact you’ve had on my journey."
Trish’s relationship with the Belle Glade community stretches back even further than her years as a library employee. Marie Jean Jacques recalls: “I have known Ms. Patricia for many years when I was a member. I remember when I used to come to the library, and she used to help me. She was very patient and made sure all my needs were met." Daniel Stewart said “Thanks, Trish, for being not only a help for me but also for the Glades. Please enjoy the next journey in your life!”
Trish’s leadership has also been recognized by many colleagues. Heidi Neville, who supervised Trish early in her career, reflects: “Trish is one of the loveliest, kind-hearted, and most hardworking individuals I’ve had the pleasure of working with in the Library System. It was an honor to supervise Trish many years ago, and I’m so proud she became the supervisor in Belle Glade. A very Happy Retirement to you, Trish!"
Elizabeth Griffin, another co-worker, expresses her well-wishes: “Trish has been a pleasure to work with. I wish her the best on her future retirement.”
As Trish enters this next chapter of her life, her legacy will continue to resonate throughout the Belle Glade Branch. The warmth, dedication, and leadership she brought to her work have left a lasting imprint on her colleagues, the community, and all the lives she touched.
