Healthy Start plans to raise $15,00 for prenatal care close to home

On Dec. 1, 2026, communities across the country will come together for Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity dedicated to supporting the organizations and causes that make a difference close to home.

This year, Okeechobee Healthy Start Coalition (OHSC) is proud to participate with a campaign focused on one of our core commitments: Prenatal Care Close to Home.

Our goal is to raise $15,000 to help sustain the education, care coordination, referrals, support services, and community connections that help local families navigate pregnancy, welcome a new baby, and build strong foundations for the future.

For many families in Okeechobee, support is about more than a doctor’s appointment. Questions often arise before, during, and after pregnancy, and families may need help understanding a referral, connecting with community resources, preparing for their baby’s arrival, accessing doula support, learning about child development, or simply knowing where to turn when they need guidance.

Through care coordination, home visitation, fatherhood support, prenatal and postpartum doula services, education, referrals, and partnerships throughout the community, OHSC helps ensure families have access to support every step of the way.

That is what Prenatal Care Close to Home means.

Over the next several months, we will share more about the programs, partnerships, and people who help make this work possible, as well as the impact local support has on families throughout Okeechobee County.

While Giving Tuesday takes place on December 1, some supporters may prefer to make their gift early. If you would like to make an early gift in support of the Prenatal Care Close to Home campaign, you may do so here: https://givebutter.com/HealthyStartsHere

Every gift helps strengthen the local support system that families rely on before and after a baby arrives.

Thank you for your support of OHSC and the families we serve.
