OKEECHOBEE — The Okeechobee Christmas Tree Lighting was on Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the park in front of City Hall and this year turned out a big crowd. Students from South Elementary School opened the ceremony by singing a few Christmas Carols, Mayor Dowling Watford gave a speech and Santa showed up on an armored vehicle!
The crowd was packed so tightly, it took him a minute to make his way to the center stage. Once Old Saint Nick was front and center, the lighting of the Okeechobee Christmas Tree went off without a hitch to much applause. [Photos by Annie Wills/Lake Okeechobee News]
