LA CROSSE, WISC. - Former Moore Haven Lady Terrier Preslynn Baker is earning accolades in the Northwoods Collegiate softball league in La Crosse Wisconsin this summer.
Baker joined the La Crosse Steam softball team this summer as a freshman first baseman and pitcher. Before joining the Steam, Baker played a key role in leading the John Melvin Christian College Mangos softball team to a Gulf Atlantic Athletic Conference championship. She was also recognized as the league’s MVP.
Over 122.1 innings pitched, she has posted a 3.23 ERA while making 21 starts and recording 127 strikeouts.
Much like her time in Moore Haven, Baker has also been impactful at the plate. In 85 at-bats, Baker tallied 11 extra-base hits, including three home runs, and drove in 24 runs. With a .329 batting average and a .553 slugging percentage, she has demonstrated both consistency and power offensively.
Baker has earned multiple ‘Pitcher of the Night’ honors from the Northwoods league, including most recently when she helped lead the Steam in a 6-5 win over the Minot Honeybees on July 21. Baker tossed seven innings with six strikeouts, allowing six hits and four earned runs while keeping the Steam ahead in a close battle
During her time with the Lady Terriers, Baker played on both the volleyball and softball teams. She and her fellow Lady Terriers helped lead Moore Haven to the district championship, with the softball team earning regional runners-up honors during her time with the program.
