MOORE HAVEN- Moore Haven senior Sa'Nyree Myers has another accolade to add to her long list of accomplishments during her time with the Lady Terrier varsity basketball team.
On April 23 MaxPreps announced that Myers had been selected as a member of their Small Town All-American team for her effort with the Moore Haven basketball team this season.
Myers averaged 28.8 points per game for the Lady Terriers, which makes her the leading scorer in Moore Haven’s division, and number four in the entire state. She is also ranked first in Moore Haven’s division in field goals made, while also averaging 4.4 steals per game.
Not only is Myers a star on the court, but she excels off the court as well. With a 4.0 GPA, she is set to graduate with an AA from Florida Southwestern State College. She was also recently nominated for the McDonald's All-American Games.
Myers attributes much of her success to her teammates first and foremost and the coaches at Moore Haven Middle-High School, head coach Jeff Gonzales and assistant coach Rashonda Croskey.
MaxPreps selected a Small Town All-America squad with five players each on first through sixth team. To qualify, players had to come from schools that had an enrollment of fewer than 1,000 students and towns with populations of fewer than 10,000 people. Myers is the only player from Florida to earn the recognition this year.
The Lady Terriers finished the regular season this year with the best record in school history, a perfect 23-0. And they earned their first ever district championship, with a 46-37 win over the Fort Meade Lady Miners in the district final on Feb. 6.
Myers led Moore Haven in the championship with 23 points and five assists. Junior Chanel Hunter led the team with eight rebounds, while junior Charisma Micco and sophomore Cherrish Micco each had six. Charisma also had six steals for the Lady Terriers on defense.
