MOORE HAVEN — The Moore Haven Lady Terriers are 10-0 through their first ten games this season, and during that win streak Moore Haven senior Sa’Nyree Myers became one of the top scorers in the state in girls’ basketball.

Myers is averaging 33 points per game for the Lady Terriers, which makes her the leading scorer in Moore Haven’s division, number two in the entire state, and the fifth highest scorer in the nation. She is also ranked number three in the division for three pointers and field goals made, while also averaging 5.6 steals per game.

Not only is Myers a star on the court, but she excels off the court as well. With a 4.0 GPA, she is set to graduate with an AA from Florida Southwestern State College. She was recently nominated for the McDonald's All-American Games and is eagerly awaiting the selection committee's decision.

Myers attributes much of her success to her teammates first and foremost and the coaches at Moore Haven Middle-High School, head coach Jeff Gonzales and assistant coach Rashonda Croskey.

The Lady Terriers opened the season with a 55-7 district win over Frostproof on Nov. 18 and followed that up with a 52-37 district win over Fort Meade on Nov. 20. They notched two more district wins this month, with a 55-11 victory over Pahokee on Dec. 11 and a 64-4 blowout over Glades Day on Dec. 15.

Myers led the Lady Terriers in scoring against Pahokee with 33 points, followed by junior Chanel Hunter with 11 points. Myers also had four three pointers while Hunter led the team in rebounds with 12.

The Lady Terriers will face Pahokee again next month. The Lady Blue Devils will be back for a rematch in Moore Haven on Jan. 23. The Glades Day Lady Gators will host the Lady Terriers in Belle Glade for the final game of the regular season, with both teams facing off on Jan. 29.
