MOORE HAVEN - The Moore Haven Terriers have a new head coach leading the football team, and it’s a former Terrier with a long history with the program.
The Glades County School District announced that Fred Hall has been selected as the head coach of the Terriers. Hall said that he was humbled and grateful for the opportunity to coach football at his alma mater.
“There is something special about being home,” said Hall. “I’ve walked these halls, sat in these classrooms, and played on this exact field. As a student-athlete, I played this game with my whole heart and took tremendous pride in putting on the Black & Gold and representing Moore Haven as a Terrier.”
In addition to playing, Hall went on to coach as an assistant under former Terrier coaches Jack Garrett and Emanuel Hendrix. Hall thanked Glades County Superintendent Beth Browning Barfield for trusting and believing in his ability to lead the Terriers,
“I want our players to understand that being a Terrier means being part of something bigger than yourself,” said Hall. “We will play with heart, toughness, discipline, and pride. win, lose, or draw, we carry ourselves the Terrier way. We will represent Moore Haven with class, respect the game, respect our opponents, and take pride in who we are.”
The Terriers will be at home to host a district game against Fort Meade on Oct. 9. The Miners won last year's meeting against Moore Haven 23-6 in Fort Meade, avenging a 13-9 loss to the Terriers in 2024. Fort Meade went 7-4 last year and returned to the state playoffs, where Pahokee ended its season 43-28.
