OKEECHOBEE — On Friday, March 27, Christopher Bowman, 35, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Detective Coonfare with OCSO responded to the 1400 block of Northwest 115th Drive in regard to a domestic dispute.
The detective spoke with the individual who had called in the complaint and he advised that a family member, Christopher Bowman, had approached him with a pipe wrench screaming and demanding that he pay him and threatened to kill him with the pipe wrench.
The complainant then explained that Christopher then proceeded to hit himself in the head with the wrench before he threw it through the rear window of his own vehicle. He advised that Christopher has been using illegal narcotics and has not been in a good mental state for some time.
He was able to provide the detective with a video depicting the incident. Coonfare investigated Christopher’s vehicle and found a hole in the rear glass and observed a pipe wrench that looked like the one in the video. The video was submitted into evidence along with the pipe wrench.
Christopher was on the property and when the detective asked him about the incident, he explained that the complainant owed him money and always refuses to pay him. The arrest affidavit states that Christopher was bleeding from a cut on his forehead, consistent with the accusation that he had hit himself in the head with the wrench. He was offered medical treatment but refused and was asked to sign a waiver.
Based on the evidence at the scene, Christopher was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Bond was set at $5,000.
