Spread the word about scammers

Scammers are using names of actual OCSO employees

OKEECHOBEE — The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office needs your help spreading the word about scam callers targeting our citizens.

These scammers are using the names of actual Sheriff’s Office employees along with fake badge numbers while claiming you have missed jury summons, unpaid fines, parking tickets, or other legal matters requiring immediate payment.

The scammers are now actively using Sgt. Jack Nash’s and Lt. Javier Gonzales' names and information during these calls.
Due to their years of service and involvement within our community, some citizens immediately recognized the name and unfortunately trusted the caller, resulting in payments being made.

We do not do this.

The Sheriff’s Office will never call you about a warrant, fine, missed summons, or any other legal matter demanding payment or threatening revocation of your driver’s license or your freedom.

If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately. Do not provide personal information, banking information, or any form of payment.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this post with your family and friends.
