Law enforcement officers recognize those fallen in the line of duty

Posted

Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office hosted the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service on Friday, May 15 at noon on the steps of the sheriff’s office. In attendance were fellow officers, friends, family and government officials, all there to honor the fallen. In Okeechobee County, there has only been one officer killed in the line of duty, Glover Emerson Bryant, known to all as Skip. His wife and daughters were in attendance at the memorial. Under Sheriff Michael Hazellief opened the ceremony, speaking about those who gave everything to protect and serve. Police Chief Donald Hagan read the names of the six Florida officers who lost their lives in 2025. Nationwide, 111 souls were lost.

“Their watch may have ended, but their sacrifice will never be forgotten,” said Major Hazellief.
