OKEECHOBEE – This weekend is the last chance to enjoy the holiday lights in Flagler Park.
The lights and Christmas decorations will be taken down on Jan. 12.
At the Jan. 8 meeting of the Okeechobee County Commission, Commissioner Terry Burroughs said the holiday lights were a big success and drew a lot of people to downtown Okeechobee. He said one of the downtown restaurant owners told him their business doubled.
“It’s been one of the best things that’s happened in this town in some time,” said Burroughs.
“It’s just amazing,” said Commission Chair David Hazellief. He said he was impressed by the number of people who turned out just to walk around Flagler Park and enjoy the lights and decorations.
The lights will return for the 2026 holiday season.
