The Moore Haven Lady Terriers honored their seniors on the team’s Senior Night on Jan. 26 The Lady Terriers are a perfect 21-0 through this season, with two more road games to come.
Seniors on the team this year include Sa'Nyree Myers, Zaylie Green, Riana Kelly, Truly Osceola, and Zakiya Redd.
Myers is averaging 29.5 points per game for the Lady Terriers, which makes her the leading scorer in Moore Haven’s division, and number three in the entire state. She is also ranked first in the division for three pointers and field goals made, while also averaging 4.6 steals per game.
Green is third on the team in rebounds this season and is also tied for the most blocks on the team with Myers.
The Lady Terriers opened the season with a 55-7 district win over Frostproof on Nov. 18 and followed that up with a 52-37 district win over Fort Meade on Nov. 20. They notched two more district wins this month, with a 55-11 victory over Pahokee on Dec. 11 and a 64-4 blowout over Glades Day on Dec. 15.
Myers led the Lady Terriers in scoring against Pahokee with 33 points, followed by junior Chanel Hunter with 11 points. Myers also had four three pointers while Hunter led the team in rebounds with 12.
In the rematch against Pahokee on Jan. 23, the Lady Terriers secured a 62-26 win. Myers led the team with 24 points followed by Osceola with 10. Green has a team leading 12 rebounds.
The Lady Terriers are coming off a successful season last year that saw them put together their best record since 2018. The team earned district runners-up honors last year, finishing with a 15-4 record. They’ll head into the district playoffs with hopes of securing a district championship.
