OKEECHOBEE — On April 10, the Kiwanis Club presented their quarterly Community Service Award to Brian Trimble for his outstanding commitment.
Brian has been the agriculture teacher for Osceola Middle School for 25 years and is also currently the FFA Board Chairman for the State.
Brian emphasizes he couldn’t do what he does without the support of the community. Osceola Middle School, Yearling Middle School and Okeechobee High School all have agricultural programs.
Okeechobee County is one of the few counties in Florida that has an elementary program. Everglades, South, and Central all have a current program, and they are looking to add North Elementary soon.
Between the three schools, 82 students will receive awards at the state convention.
The last youth livestock show, 400 kids participated, showing 300 animals.
Brian mentioned that Megan Williamson has been the powering force behind adding an adaptive agricultural program. It’s hands-on, inclusive, built for all learners.
