Joseph Outreach sponsors Financial Empowerment Session

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — Wound Warriors Inc. will host a Financial Empowerment Informational Session, sponsored by Joseph Outreach Ministries on Saturday, Aug. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Douglas Brown Community Center.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Financial literacy basics,
  • Understanding credit,
  • Building a strong credit profile,
  • Business structure options,
  • Business credit do’s and don’ts.

There will also be a question and answer session.

During their July 23 meeting, Okeechobee County Commissioners agreed to waive the fee for the use of the Douglas Brown Center for the program.

Emmaline Harris said Joseph Outreach Ministry has a variety of programs in the community. She said they go to the nursing home once a week to visit with the elderly. They also visit the hospital.

Their street ministry works with drug addicts and those “out on the street who are lost.”

“This year, we decided to try to empower the community,” Harris explained. “We want them to know you can get a job, you can own your own business, if you do the right thing.”

Wound Warriors Inc. is dedicated to assisting families, single parents, young adults, veterans, and individuals who are facing financial difficulties. Our programs are designed to be inclusive and accessible, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to gain financial independence.
