OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee officials are seeking information on a Sept. 8 hit-and-run incident.
Deputy Tyler Cox of the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Marathon Station on State Road 70 West after a complaint of a hit-and-run.
According to the incident report, the accident happened on Sept. 8 at approximately 7 p.m. The victim told the deputy he was stopped at the stop sign on Southwest 24th Avenue, planning to turn right to head east on State Road 70 East. While he was stopped, a late 90s white long-bed pickup, possibly a Chevy 2500 collided into the rear of his vehicle. The hit was predominantly on the driver’s side and busted his taillight. The pickup then turned around and fled south on Southwest 24th Avenue. The victim was not able to provide any further information regarding the suspect or the vehicle.
However, the man said if the driver was found, he wanted to press charges.
Due to the distance from the Marathon Station, the cameras were unable to provide useful information.
The case is considered closed until further leads arise.
