In partnership with the Okeechobee Historical Society, Okeechobee County is proud to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Historic Courthouse, which was completed in 1926.

This milestone honors a century of local government, justice, and community history, while recognizing one of Okeechobee County's most iconic landmarks.

To commemorate the centennial, several activities are already underway:

• The Historic Courthouse Gallery now features a special centennial exhibit with historic photographs, information about the courthouse, and a display recognizing every judge who has served in the courthouse over the past 100 years.
• Centennial banners have been installed around the courthouse to highlight this historic occasion.
• Throughout the coming weeks, the County will share stories, photographs, and historical facts about the courthouse across social media platforms.

The community is also invited to join two special centennial events:

• Thursday, Sept. 10, at 5:30 p.m. – A Centennial Reception will be held in the Historic Courthouse lobby to commemorate this important milestone.
• Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – The courthouse will be open to the public for a Centennial Open House, featuring additional historical displays and family-friendly activities coordinated by our Parks and Recreation Department.

Everyone is encouraged to participate and celebrate 100 years of Okeechobee County history and the courthouse that has served generations of the community.
