SEBRING — Highland Hammock has scheduled five Music in the Park concerts for the 2025-2026 season. The series runs from mid-November through the end of March and features several local Heartland favorites. The Calico 80s band will kick off the series with a lively opening on November 15. Calico, whose music is as colorful as the name, will perform rock-n-roll oldies and hits from the 1970s and 80s along with some country and “extra special southern rock.” Band founder Mary Lorenzi, also known as “Boss Lady,” sings vocals and plays rhythm guitar together with four other musicians who complete the band with lead guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals. Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, Lorenzi, like so many other musicians, grew up in a musical family and wanted to continue playing music after moving to Lake Placid. Concerts run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday nights and are held in the grassy circle of the picnic area. For more information, check out calico80sband.com.

On Dec. 13, Florida Boards will end the year with “happy beach music,” steel drums and southern rock. Concertgoers may celebrate the New Year on January 17 with solo artist and Indiana native Malachi Jaggers who blends storytelling with country and Heartland rock. Paisley Craze, known for their anthology of Sixties music covering the British Invasion to the Beach Boys to Woodstock, is scheduled for Feb. 21. Harry Havery and California Toe Jam will bring the series to a rollicking fine finish on March 28 when the band “packs the park’ playing the best classic rock of the 1960s and 70s.

Admission for all concerts is $15 per adult.  Accompanied children 12 years and younger are free of charge. Pets are not permitted. Music in the Park concerts are sponsored by the Friends of Highlands Hammock State Park. Concert proceeds benefit park improvements, assist with the purchase of vehicles, equipment and supplies and support park programs and special events. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and flashlights and enjoy an evening of music under the stars. Refreshments and food are provided by the Hammock Inn concession and food vendors. Call the Ranger Station at 863-386-6094 for more information.  Highlands Hammock is located at 5931 Hammock Road in Sebring.
