The following column is the Road Watch report for Hendry County for the week beginning Sunday, Dec. 21, provided by the Florida Department of Transportation.
Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.
S.R. 25 (U.S. 27) from Stitt Ranch to west of Flaghole Road: (Construction project) Crews will begin milling and resurfacing work on S.R. 25 (U.S. 27) from Stitt Ranch to west of Flaghole Road in Hendry County. The project includes guardrail improvements, drainage enhancements, updated signage, and new pavement markings.
• Crews are currently working on guardrail installation along the westbound outside shoulder, drainage items, sign installation, sod placement, and conduit/pull-box installation throughout the corridor.
• Motorists should anticipate single-lane closures in both eastbound and westbound directions for erosion control work, guardrail installation, drainage operations, conduit and pull-box installation, and sign installation.
• Drivers should use caution in the area and watch for workers and equipment in the construction zone.
• No construction activities are scheduled from Wednesday, Dec. 24, through Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, in observance of the Christmas and New Year holidays
Estimated completion is the spring of 2026.
