LABELLE — On Tuesday morning, June 2, 2026, Hendry County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Chief Deputy Kevin Nelson had the opportunity to swear in five new members joining the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office.
HCSO Deputy Christian Amoruso graduated from the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy, Class 180; graduating Friday, May 8, 2026. Deputy Amoruso will be assigned to the Road Patrol Division.
HCSO Deputy Andrea Gijon graduated from the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy, Class 180; graduating Friday, May 8, 2026. Deputy Gijon is a lifelong resident of Hendry County and a graduate of LaBelle High School. While attending LaBelle High School, Gijon was a member of the Public Safety Academy – Criminal Justice Program and has been a member of the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office since 2021. Deputy Gijon became a member of the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office in 2021 as a Hendry County Sheriffs Office Explorer, working her way through the ranks attaining the rank of Major over the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post. In addition, Deputy Gijon also served as State President for the Florida Sheriff’s Explorer Association. Deputy Gijon will be assigned to the Road Patrol Division.
HCSO Deputy Patricia Overbee graduated from the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy, Class 180 at the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy, graduating Friday, May 8, 2026; Deputy Overbee is a lifelong resident of Hendry County and a graduate of LaBelle High School. Deputy Overbee will be assigned to the Road Patrol.
HCSO Deputy Rosario Rosas graduated from the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy, Class 180; graduating Friday, May 8, 2026. Deputy Rosas is a lifelong resident of Hendry County – and graduate of LaBelle High School. Deputy Rosas is former military serving 4 years in the US Army. Deputy Rosas will be assigned to the Road Patrol Division.
HCSO Deputy Leonel Gonzalez is a graduate from the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy, Class 180; graduating Friday, May 8, 2026. Deputy Gonzalez was recognized as the Most Improved Physical Fitness. Deputy Gonzalez will be assigned to the Road Patrol Division.
Sheriff Whidden and members of the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office welcomed the new deputies.
