Burn ban means no open flames allowed in campground

Posted

OKEECHOBEE – Okeechobee County is currently under a burn ban, due to the danger of wildfire. The Okeechobee Music Festival sent out a message on March 18, reminding festival goers: “No open flames are allowed in the campgrounds.”

The email explains: “This includes propane tanks and grills. Please leave these at home so they don’t get confiscated at the gate. Electric grills and hotplates are welcome.

“To accommodate the OMF family who is looking forward to cooking in the campgrounds, we have added communal grills next to the two General Stores. Bring your favorite food, throw it on the grill, and enjoy cooking alongside other campers.”

Grillachobee will be open Thursday, March 19 from noon to 8 p.m.; and Friday, March 20 through Sunday, March 22 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Festival organizers request: “Please help keep our communal grills clean by rubbing a cut onion on the grill before and after use. It’s an easy, all natural way to keep our grills clean for the next Okeechobeeing. OMF will provide the onions.”
