OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office has featured Jose Romero, also known as “Bow Wow,” on Warrant Wednesday for the past several months. He is now in custody.
On May 21, 2026, Romero was located and arrested in Mexico with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service.
Romero is currently being held pending extradition and will be returned to Okeechobee County to face multiple outstanding felony charges after allegedly fleeing to Mexico in an attempt to avoid prosecution.
Romero’s pending charges include trafficking in cocaine, tampering with a witness, and aggravated battery.
The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the United States Marshals Service and our partnering law enforcement agencies for their assistance in locating and apprehending Romero.
Romero will be extradited back to Okeechobee County to answer for the charges against him and to ensure the victims connected to these crimes have the opportunity to see the judicial process carried through in a court of law.
This arrest serves as a reminder that law enforcement agencies will continue to work together across state and international boundaries to locate and apprehend fugitives who believe they can escape the reach of justice.
