OKEECHOBEE — Our good friend, Sgt. Sport Pickering, has called 10-7 for the last time as an active member of the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office.

As tradition stands, Sport was ceremonially promoted to Lieutenant before walking out the doors one final time, a fitting tribute to a man who has spent his career serving others with honor, humility, and dedication.

Sport has more than earned the opportunity to spend some much-needed time with his amazing, and very patient, wife, Susie, as he begins this well-deserved chapter of retirement.

Sport, you have been a friend, a mentor, a jokester, and the epitome of a Southern gentleman. Throughout your career, you have touched countless lives, shared your wisdom with generations of deputies, and never missed an opportunity to make someone smile with a joke. Even on the toughest days, you brought comfort through prayer.

Your dedication to this community, this profession, and this Sheriff's Office has left a mark that will not soon be forgotten. The respect you have earned from your peers is evident in the friendships you have built and the legacy you leave behind.
While the radio may no longer hear your call sign, your influence will continue to be felt throughout these halls and across Okeechobee County for years to come.
Thank you for your friendship, your service, your leadership, and your unwavering commitment to others.

Congratulations, Lieutenant Pickering. May your retirement be filled with happiness, good health, laughter, and countless memories with those you love most.
10-7 for service, but forever a part of the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office family. God bless, my friend.
