OKEECHOBEE – Thousands of people turned out to line both sides of the route of Okeechobee’s annual Christmas parade on Saturday, Dec. 13.
Holiday excitement was already ramped up in Okeechobee with the installation of new Christmas lights in Flagler Park. Gilbert’s Family of Companies took the holiday spirit up another notch with free skating in the park (on a hard plastic rink of artificial ice) and the delivery of 16 tons of snow.
Then came the parade: 90 minutes filled with a stream of lighted vehicles, costumed marchers, the Okeechobee High School Band, Aztec and Mexican dancers from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, horses and the arrival of Santa.
