Beta Nu celebrates service, leadership, and student success

OKEECHOBEE — The Beta Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma enjoyed a meaningful and memorable meeting on May 30. Members began the evening with a special Remembrance Ceremony honoring the life and contributions of Pam Snedeker Bogaert. The chapter also welcomed its newly elected officers during an induction ceremony.

One of the highlights of the meeting was a performance by Mrs. Lori Howard's second-grade students from Central Elementary School. The students portrayed historical figures from Mrs. Howard's annual Wax Museum project, bringing history to life for those in attendance. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Wax Museum, which has become a beloved tradition. The students have shared their performances at Central Elementary, the Okeechobee County Public Library, and at the Beta Nu meeting. The project continues to thrive thanks in part to grants awarded to Mrs. Howard by Beta Nu.

The meeting also marked a leadership transition for the chapter. Members expressed their appreciation to outgoing President Marilyn C. Rinear for her dedicated service and welcomed incoming President Katrina McMennamy as the chapter's new leader.

As Marilyn prepares to move to Texas this month, members wished her well and thanked her for her years of commitment to Beta Nu. As a farewell gift, she received a copy of a book published by Okeechobee High School students through the support of a Delta Kappa Gamma Beta Nu grant.

The meeting was a celebration of leadership, learning, service, and the strong community partnerships that continue to make a difference in Okeechobee County.
