Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Mu Rho Omega Chapter of Belle Glade, Florida, volunteered in the community to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy through service, unity and community uplift. It was a day to put “love in action” by addressing community needs.
Under the “Empower Our Families” Initiative the chapter provided Power Pack CHIPP Bags filled with nutritious meals to help combat childhood hunger. Under the ‘Advocate for Social Justice” Initiative the chapter provided voter education material and registered citizens to vote. This was an effort to help the community utilize their most powerful tools in order to advocate for themselves and influence policy.
