West County Senior Center engaging new members of the community this Christmas & Hanukkah Season

Posted

BELLE GLADE — As we return to some sense of normalcy, older adults in the Glades are eager to return to West County Senior Center for the activities they enjoyed prior to the stay-at-home orders plus experience some new opportunities that may come as a result of COVID - 19.

Social isolation as you know is a major concern because of associated poor health outcomes. With new virtual programs and innovative approaches West County Senior Center is engaging new members of the community in activities both in person and virtually.

For example, due to COVID-19 restrictions and to protect the health and safety of area senior citizens during the pandemic, the annual West County Senior Center Christmas and Hanukkah event has been modified to a drive-thru meal and gift distribution.

On Dec. 8, a $500 H.E. Hill Foundation sponsorship was awarded to West County Senior Center in support of the modified Christmas & Hanukkah drive-thru meal and gift distribution as a means to empower the center to continue to make desired changes to further benefit regular attendees while attracting a new generation of participants through innovative approaches and engaging area older adults in new ways.
