WEST PALM BEACH — Once the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners approved Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding through its Youth Services Department, the county contracted with United Way of Palm Beach County to distribute relief for nonprofit agencies in the area.
The coronavirus pandemic caused a disruption of work for many local nonprofits. Organizations throughout the county looked for ways to reimagine how they serve more clients and stay in operation. United Way of Palm Beach County reported that over 40% of requests for relief came from nonprofits in need of infrastructure support. As the need for food, housing support and health services grows due to economic drivers, the Palm Beach County CARES for Nonprofits Grant helps organizations continue providing these and other critical resources.
Nonprofit organizations may be eligible to receive a one-time grant up to $25,000 to help them recover from the negative financial consequences resulting from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The grant-funding program will prioritize health and human services or veterans’ services organizations. Organizations that do not meet the priority criteria would be considered for funding only after all of those that do.
Applications will be accepted through Nov. 30, at 11:59 p.m. EST. For more information or to apply for the Palm Beach County CARES for Nonprofits Grant, visit www.unitedwaypbc.org.
