MARTIN COUNTY — The following is the Florida Department of Transportation’s Road Watch report for Martin County for the week beginning Sunday, Nov. 27.
Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.
• Kanner Highway / State Road 76, from south of Pratt Whitney Road (County Road 711) to S.W. Jack James Drive: Kanner Highway is being widened from south of Pratt Whitney Road to S.W. Jack James Drive. The speed limit on Kanner Highway from south of Pratt Whitney Road to S.W. Jack James Drive has been temporarily reduced from 50 mph to 45 mph. One lane in either direction of Kanner Highway from Pratt Whitney Road to S.W. Jack James Drive will be closed intermittently Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for roadway work. For lane closures on Kanner Highway where there is only one existing lane in each direction, two-way traffic will be maintained by a flag crew. One lane in either direction of Pratt Whitney Road at the Kanner Highway intersection will be closed intermittently Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for roadway work. Two-way traffic will be maintained by a flag crew. The sidewalk on the west side of Kanner Highway is closed through January 2021. Pedestrians should use the newly constructed shared use path on the east side of Kanner Highway. Please note, due to current roadway conditions the shared use path terminates prior to Locks Road and Pratt Whitney Road/S.W. 96th Street for pedestrian safety.
• U.S. 1 Shoulder Widening and Resurfacing Project, from South of S.E. Heritage Boulevard to North of S.E. Salerno Road: U.S. 1 is undergoing a shoulder widening and resurfacing project from south of S.E. Heritage Boulevard to north of S.E. Salerno Road. One lane in either direction of U.S. 1 from Heritage Boulevard to Salerno Road may be closed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for roadway work. Starting Monday, Nov. 30, the outside southbound lane of U.S. 1 just north of Cove Road will be closed daily, Sunday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Dec. 9 for turning lane construction. During this time, the southbound sidewalk will be closed, and pedestrians will be detoured at Salerno Road.
• I-95 Lighting and Roadway Improvements Project from South of the State Road 706 / Indiantown Road Interchange to the County Road 708 / S.E. Bridge Road Interchange: This 11.59-mile I-95 improvements project started Sept. 9, 2020 in Jupiter and Hobe Sound. The shoulder in both directions of I-95 will be intermittently closed Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Aug. 2021 for temporary asphalt placement, landscaping relocation efforts, and conduit and light pole foundation installations. Two lanes in either direction of I-95 at the Indiantown Road interchange will be closed Monday through Thursday night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. to facilitate the construction of a minor traffic diversion.
• Roosevelt Bridge Repair Project: The Roosevelt Bridge repair project that started on Aug. 14, 2020 will restore six lanes of traffic on the Roosevelt Bridge. The northbound and southbound bridges are open to three lanes in each direction. Intermittent lane closures will occur while sealing of the northbound bridge deck continues. One sidewalk on the bridges will remain open at all times and signs will be in place to direct pedestrians to the open sidewalk. Intermittent sidewalk closures will occur on Dixie Highway. Pedestrian detour signage will be in place. Intermittent off-peak lane closures on Dixie Highway and U.S. 1 will be needed while work is ongoing at the bridge. • U.S. 1 from Wright Boulevard to Britt Road in Stuart: One northbound lane of U.S. 1 will be closed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for utility work.
• Ernest Lyons and Evans Crary Bridges (State Road A1A) in Stuart: One lane in either direction of the Ernest Lyons and Evans Crary Bridges will be closed Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for bridge inspection. Two-way traffic will be maintained by a flag crew.
• State Road A1A from N.E. Rose Walk Terrace to N.E. Causeway Boulevard in Stuart & Jensen Beach: One lane in either direction of State Road A1A will be closed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for utility work. Two-way traffic will be maintained by a flag crew.
• Northbound Florida’s Turnpike/S.R. 91 Entrance Ramp from Martin Highway/S.R. 714: Full Closure: Northbound Florida’s Turnpike/S.R. 91 entrance ramp from Martin Highway/S.R. 714 will undergo overnight full ramp closures, 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1. If necessary, this closure may also occur from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1, and nightly through Thursday, Dec. 3. Detour information is as follows: Martin Highway/S.R. 714 traffic wishing to access northbound Florida’s Turnpike/S.R. 91 will be directed to Citrus Boulevard, travel north on Citrus Boulevard to Becker Road and travel east on Becker Road to access northbound Florida’s Turnpike.
