PALM BEACH COUNTY – A West Palm Beach woman was killed on New Year’s Day on U.S. 27, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report.
The accident occurred at 1:59 p.m. on Jan. 1, 2022, at 49199 U.S. Highway 27, according to the report.
A 2022 Honda Accord, driven by Inocente Negrin, 50, of Winter Haven was eastbound on U.S. 27, according to the PBSO report. A pedestrian, Alieda Jo Thomas, 47, of West Palm Beach, was running northbound on a private drive toward the roadway. The driver stated he saw the pedestrian dart into the roadway, violating the right of way, and attempted to avoid the woman but he was unable to, the report continues. The Honda struck the pedestrian, vaulting her over the driver’s side fender. She was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where she later died from injuries sustained in the accident, the PBSO report states.
The Honda driver was not injured. A passenger in the Honda was also uninjured.
