Palm Beach County schools require face masks starting Monday

Posted

WEST PALM BEACH -- The  Palm Beach County School Board voted 6-1 Aug. 17, to approve a 90-day emergency adoption, making masks mandatory for all students starting Monday, Aug. 23.

This decision replaces the previous plan which allowed parents to opt their children out of mask requirements.

Exceptions will be allowed for medical reasons, specifically students who are covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Teachers and staff were already required to wear masks.

Palm Beach County joined Miami-Dade, Broward, Hillsborough and Alachua counties in defying Gov. Ron DeSantis ban on mask requirements.
