WEST PALM BEACH — Palm Beach County Property Appraiser Dorothy Jacks, CFA, AAS, was elected to serve as president of the Florida Association of Property Appraisers (FAPA) Tuesday night, Nov. 17.

“I am honored to be chosen to lead this professional organization,” said Jacks. “FAPA members are committed to upholding the highest professional standards in the real estate assessment industry. They have advocated for legislation that has real benefit for Florida taxpayers, including, most recently, Amendment 5.”

Amendment 5 on the Nov. 3 ballot passed, increasing the period of time from two years to three years during which accrued “Save Our Homes” benefits may be transferred from a prior homestead to a new homestead.

“FAPA takes a leadership role in the field of constituionally authorized property appraisers,” said Jacks. “And that will continue with my leadership role at FAPA.”

FAPA member counties represent over 80% of the total taxable real estate value and population in the state of Florida. FAPA, in its professional meetings and seminars, provides continuing education and legislative updates to its members on a regular basis.
