IMMOKALEE – A new temporary traffic signal has been installed at the intersection of SR 82 and SR 29 in Collier County. Law enforcement will be on site for the remainder of the week to assist motorists with the new traffic pattern. This temporary traffic signal will remain in place through late summer 2021 while crews continue to work on the project. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to drive with caution, courtesy, and patience as they adjust to the new traffic pattern.
This work is being conducted as part of FDOT’s road widening project from Gator Slough Lane to SR 29. The project improvements include widening SR 82 to a four-lane divided highway, installing lighting, sidewalk, and constructing a roundabout at the intersection of SR 82 and SR 29. The expected completion time is end of summer 2022. The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida and the project cost is $29 million.
