IMMOKALEE — On June 18, 2021, the Florida Highway Patrol conducted Operation P.E.D.S. (Pedestrian Education and Developing Safety details) in the vicinity of Main Street in Immokalee from 8 til 10 a.m. The purpose was to decrease the amount of injuries and deaths through an education detail in an area prone to pedestrian and bicyclist involved crashes. Troopers interacted with the community throughout the morning and passed out over 80 pedestrian-bicycle educational flyers, reflectors and bicycle lights.
