BELLE GLADE -- A Royal Palm Beach man was seriously injured and a passenger in his vehicle killed in a one-vehicle crash in Belle Glade around 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 15.
According to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office report, Steven Jared Ariaza Mercaco, 20, of Royal Palm Beach was driving a 2008 Lexus with Nathanael Ariaza as a passenger.
The Lexus was eastbound on CR 880 and for unknown reasons departed the roadway to the right, the PBSO report exampled. The vehicle ramped a downward slope entering a grass shoulder and started rolling. As the vehicle was rolling both the driver and the passenger were ejected into the shoulder. The passenger was fatally injured. The driver was transported to St. Marys Hospital and is in stable condition.
The report indicates no seat belts were in use at the time of the crash.
