SOUTH BAY — On Jan. 9, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to South Bay to investigate a train versus a tractor in a field.
Sandra Rivera Sandoval, 46, of Clewiston was operating a tractor in the same direction as the train, parallel to the train, and made a right turn to enter the railroad crossing as the train approached. The train’s operator sounded the horn for approximately 30 seconds, but the tractor remained stopped on the tracks for unknown reasons.
The train impacted the tractor ejecting the operator resulting in the operator succumbing to her injuries.
It was reported that Ms. Sandoval was deceased on scene. This incident occurred on private property.
