BELLE GLADE — A pedestrian died in a collission with a vehicle on State Road 80 on Sunday night, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report.
At approximately 6:10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office responded to call involving an accident. A 2013 Ford Fusion operated by Maurice Collier, 72, of Belle Glade, was eastbound on State Road 80 in the inside lane. A pedestrian, 40-year-old Celafoi Charles of Belle Glade, apparently walked into the path of the oncoming vehicle. The passenger side of the Ford collided with the left side of the pedestrian. As a result of the collision, the pedestrian stuck the vehicle’s windshield.
The pedestrian fell to the roadway and came to rest in the outside lane of State Road 80, east of the area of impact.
The Ford was brought to a controlled rest on the eastbound shoulder of the roadway.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene scene by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
The driver of the Ford was not injured, according to the report.
