BELLE GLADE -- A 72-year-old Belle Glade man died Feb. 25 after being struck by a vehicle when crossing S. Main Street.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, a pickup truck driven by a 68-year-old Loxahatchee man was traveling north on S Main Street and was crossing over Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd with a green traffic signal.
The pedestrian, Alexandre Paul Metellus, traveled into the roadway and into the path of vehicle; thus, a crash occurred with the font of vehicle striking the pedestrian, the FHP report states.
"The pedestrian suffered incapacitating injuries and he was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment. He later died at the hospital from injuries sustained in this crash," the report states.
The accident happened at 6:52 p.m. The pedestrian died about two hours later at the hospital.
