BELLE GLADE —Palm Beach State College’s theaters will reopen their doors in January with an abridged slate of upcoming live performances as more events and college operations return to campus in January.

The Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center on the Belle Glade campus, the Duncan Theatre on the Lake Worth campus and the Eissey Campus Theatre on the Palm Beach Gardens campus are expecting to bring back as many patrons to the theaters as possible while observing strict safety and health guidelines. The theaters have been closed to live performances since March because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Palm Beach State College is committed to continue to operate our cultural arts centers on all three of our campuses,” said Mark Alexander, executive director of theaters. “We are excited to open our doors to our community as a gathering place to experience live performances and, often times, the first exposure to the arts for our schoolchildren.”

To help ensure the safety and well-being of attendees, the theatres will observe several strict COVID-19 protocols. These include wearing face masks and social distancing, including while in line for the box office, restrooms and theater entrances.

Patrons will be strongly encouraged to acquaint themselves with the CDC signs and symptoms relating to COVID-19. Restrooms will be marked with social distancing markers, and capacity for each restroom shall be posted. PBSC theaters will also implement the highest cleanliness standards, with restrooms and surfaces such as counters, railings, door handles, and chairs cleaned and disinfected regularly. Sanitizing stations will be placed at all entry points and beyond.
