The Immokalee Foundation announces new board members Tom Hurwich and Diego Zambrano

Posted

Naples, FL—June 5, 2024—The Immokalee Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of Tom Hurwich and Diego Zambrano to its Board of Directors. Hurwich, who splits his time between Naples and Chicago, has joined the board as Treasurer. Zambrano is a Naples-based Portfolio Advisor with Northern Trust.

Zambrano earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2006, where he graduated Cum Laude, and a Master's in Business Administration in 2012 in Finance from Baruch College (CUNY). He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®).

"I'm a strong believer that education opens doors for driven individuals," Zambrano said. "When I relocated to Naples, I sought out organizations that focused on giving underprivileged children the opportunity to succeed through education. The Immokalee Foundation was a natural fit. After volunteering as a mentor for the last two years, I wanted to get more involved to help the Foundation achieve its strategic goals."

Hurwich has been committed to volunteering, including serving on the board of directors for several non-profit organizations.

He retired in 2017 after 33+ years in Finance at Abbott and AbbVie. He was named AbbVie's first Vice President and Corporate Controller in 2013 after the split from Abbott. Before AbbVie, Tom spent over 29 years in various financial management positions at Abbott.

"I feel strongly that education in the classroom and exposure to life skills are critical to children's future success," Hurwich said. "The Immokalee Foundation's resources allow students to set goals and work towards a future that may not have been achieved without the Foundation's support. The success rate of these programs in terms of those students attending secondary education and the careers they pursue is extremely impressive and should benefit our entire community."

"Not only do Tom and Diego bring a fresh perspective to The Immokalee Foundation's Board, but both have also volunteered to serve as impactful role models for our students in our mentor program," said Immokalee Foundation President and CEO Noemi Y. Perez. "We are grateful for their passion and commitment to our mission."
