If you or someone you know has always wanted to learn to speak English or learn to speak English better, Immokalee Technical College invites you to take advantage of its summer English classes starting June 5 and ending July 26. Student Wooderson Jean Mary, who has been enrolled in the English classes all year, proudly says, “I like the way the teacher teaches me. I learned new words. I’m happy I have learned enough English to enter the GED program, and I learned enough English to get a job.” In addition to learning English, iTECH students get real life experiences. They were able to participate in a field trip to Alico Arena’s recent job fair. “One of my students who attended the job fair received a job offer,” boasts teacher Lori Neal. Maria Leyva, also a teacher of English, adds, “Our classes are very engaging, and our students can have fun while learning English. I’ll put all my energy into teaching, and I will make you feel excited about learning.” Classes run Monday through Thursday mornings from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration is now open. Tuition is $30, although for some students ages 16 to 21 and some adults the classes could be free. Stop by the iTECH Student Services office during the day or the night classes’ office in the evening to see if you qualify for the free tuition and to register.
