School safety is something that has been top of mind for all of us here at CCPS this school year and for our families at home. We are grateful for the partnerships that we have with our local law enforcement partners and our first responders. They protect our schools, volunteer in our classrooms, and serve as role models for our youth. To our youngest of students, these first responders are like heroes. They see them fight fires, rescue those injured, and many times serve as a trusted adult in times of need. So you can imagine the excitement on the faces of our Village Oaks Elementary pre-kindergarten students when they got to meet some of those first responders live and in person! Firefighters from the Immokalee Fire Department visited the school last week and made quite the impression on our little ones. These local heroes reviewed fire safety tips and students were able to see the inner workings of a real live fire truck. They also were able to get a look at the safety equipment the firefighters use in an emergency. Everyone at CCPS would like to give a big thank you to Lt. Hughes and Lt. Sumeralls along with firefighters Neaudette, Escalante, Rookard, and Manssuer. The Immokalee Fire Department has bravely served the community since 1953. They currently have three stations strategically placed throughout the 234 square mile area and continue to protect and serve this great community
