Free Summer Fun

With mid-summer approaching, many kids are bored doing the same routines day after day. However, they ignore programs around that help provide children with free summer fun. The Immokalee branch of the Collier County library offers different events throughout the summer and school year to keep kids busy, and challenge their minds. One of these programs, the Summer Reading Program, has been a part of the public library system since the late 1800s. Although there is only a few more weeks of this program, it’s a way to challenge yourself and to read books that interest you. At the end of the summer, the library will host a party for all participants. The Immokalee branch is hosting two Disney family movies, on July 13, at 2 p.m., The Aristocrats, and on the July 29 at 2 p.m., Fantasia 2000. Later this month, the library will sponsor a “Riverdale Escape Room” where teams of children 11—17 need to solve clues and puzzles in order to help save Jughead. At the end of the month, the library scheduled “A Great American Book Read”, where students can share their favorite books with others, a suspenseful, story from the Wild West that encourages audience participation to discover chemical reactions, combustion, air pressure and more. Call the library to enroll in one of these programs. The library also offers a place to be alone where you can either read or write and discover more about yourself or about book characters. Collier County libraries offer different programs at each of their branches.
