An Okeechobee dairy farm has become a popular destination for family fun.

Milking R Dairy is located at 5818 US 98 in Okeechobee County.

The handcrafted, small-batch ice cream sales started in 2019 as part of the farm’s educational tours. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the ice cream business took off, with a devoted following of ice cream lovers who would buy the frozen treats online and drive out to the farm to pick it up.

The ice cream business was so popular that when the pandemic restrictions were lifted, more flavors were added. With families coming to the farm for ice cream, the dairy started adding farm-themed playground equipment for the children to enjoy.  Kids can also meet friendly goats, cows and donkeys.

The dairy is open on Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m., Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Entry is $5 per child, ages 3-13.
